Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ)

The Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ) is a forward-looking sector skill council under the NSDC, committed to creating a skilled workforce for India’s growing green economy. SCGJ plays a pivotal role in driving sustainable development by promoting skill development in areas aligned with renewable energy, waste management, energy efficiency, and eco-friendly practices.

SCGJ works with government agencies, environmental organizations, and clean-tech companies to develop National Occupational Standards (NOS) for a wide range of job roles—such as solar PV installers, biomass plant operators, waste treatment technicians, and paper bag manufacturers. These programs focus on technical competence, environmental responsibility, and practical field knowledge.

By equipping individuals with skills that support India’s climate goals and sustainable livelihoods, SCGJ is helping pave the way for a cleaner, greener, and more inclusive economy.
