Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC)

The Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC) is a specialized body under the NSDC, formed to address the skilling needs of India's power generation, transmission, and distribution industries. As the country advances toward energy security and smart infrastructure, PSSC ensures the development of a technically proficient and safety-aware workforce.

PSSC partners with power companies, utility providers, training institutions, and industry experts to design National Occupational Standards (NOS) and training curricula for roles such as linemen, technicians, fitters, electricians, and substation operators. The council’s focus areas span across thermal, grid, and transmission systems, covering both conventional and emerging technologies.

By promoting standardized training, certification, and on-the-job learning, PSSC enhances operational efficiency, minimizes downtime, and helps build a reliable and future-ready power infrastructure for India.
