Indian Iron and Steel Sector Skill Council (IISSSC)

The Indian Iron and Steel Sector Skill Council (IISSSC) is an important organization established under the NSDC to enhance skill development for the iron and steel sector—one of India's manufacturing and infrastructure sectors' main pillars. The council serves a strategic function in determining the needs of the industry, laying down occupational standards, and providing high-standard training programs conforming to global standards.

IISSSC partners with industry champions, training partners, and policymakers to ensure professionals at all roles—plant operations, equipment handling, mechanical maintenance, process control—are empowered with the technical competence, safety consciousness, and productivity benchmarks required by the industry.

Through filling the skill gap and encouraging on-going learning, the council enables workers and youth to access more improved job opportunities while enhancing the modernization and competitiveness of the sector in the international market.
