Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC)

The Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC) is a specialized organization under the NSDC to build the skill ecosystem in India's leather, footwear, and accessories segment. Being a labor-intensive industry with high export potential, leather production needs a skilled population with expertise in both traditional craftsmanship as well as contemporary production methods.

LSSC collaborates closely with industry leaders, training providers, and design schools to create National Occupational Standards (NOS) for various work roles—from cutting and stitching to design and product development. By doing this, it ensures that the workforce becomes knowledgeable from a technical point of view and skilled creatively for global competitiveness.

Through the development of skills, innovation, and quality improvement, LSSC assists in generating jobs while enhancing India's position as the leading exporter of leather and footwear.
